What it is

A Foot of Wall Is Not a Unit of Cost

Metal framing is measured in linear feet of wall and priced in something else entirely. A 10-foot-high 20-gauge shaft wall at 16 inches on centre with a deflection head and full-height bracing has almost nothing in common, cost-wise, with an 8-foot 25-gauge office partition at 24 inches on centre — yet a linear-foot rate treats them as the same product. That is the gap this software is built to close.

Each type carries its stud size, gauge, spacing, height and head condition from the wall type legend, so a measured length converts directly into stud counts, track lengths and the connection details that go with them. Openings generate their own framing — jambs, headers, sills and the extra studs a wide opening needs — rather than being deducted from the wall and forgotten.
